Nambu Cast Iron Arare Pattern Kettle 500ml
Known as one of Japan’s most iconic traditional crafts, Nambu Tetsubin has been cherished for over 400 years. Protected and nurtured by successive Nambu feudal lords, its distinctive wabi-sabi design embodies quiet simplicity, warmth, and enduring craftsmanship that continues to be valued today.
This Nambu iron kettle features the traditional Arare (hailstone) pattern, a design long associated with Japanese ironware. Compact and well balanced, it comes with a tea strainer, allowing it to be used both as a kettle for boiling water and as a teapot for brewing tea.
Unlike enamel-lined teapots, the interior is finished using the traditional kama-yaki (kiln-fired) method, leaving the surface uncoated. This allows iron to naturally dissolve into the water - a characteristic that has been valued in Japan for generations.
- Material: Nambu cast iron
- Tea Strainer included (Stainless Steel)
- Capacity: 500ml
- Size: φ15.5 x 14 x H15.5 mm
- Suitable for all stovetops, including induction, ceramic, gas and electric
- Care Instruction
In Japan, water boiled in an iron kettle - known as sayu - is often enjoyed in the morning as part of a simple wellness ritual. This small kettle is ideal for preparing a single serving, bringing a sense of calm and intention to everyday moments.
